Big 10 Dominates Day 1 of Big 10-ACC Challenge

Well, it went just about as bad as we expected for the ACC in day one of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

Minnesota controlled Florida State as the Noles continue to struggle finding ways to score:

The No. 21 Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team continued its strong start to the season by beating the Florida State Seminoles, 77-68, in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.

The Gophers put one in the win column for the Big Ten with a balanced attack from their backcourt players. Guard Joe Colemanled the balanced scoring effort with 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor.

Florida State's top scorer, Michael Snaer, paced the Seminole with 12 points while forward Terrance Shannon added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Michigan showed their "Big Three" are a few steps ahead of the Wolfpack's:

The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines stayed unbeaten and earned a win for their conference in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge, downing the No. 18 N.C. State Wolfpack, 79-72, at home on Tuesday night.

Michigan's dynamic trio of Trey Burke (18 points on 5-of-9 shooting, 11 assists), Tim Hardaway, Jr. (16 points, 7-of-18 shooting from the floor), and Glenn Robinson III (11 points, seven rebounds) led the Wolverines past the Wolfpack's balanced attack, with four starters scoring in double figures. Forward T.J. Warren led N.C. State with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and four rebounds.

and the only teams saving face for the ACC were Maryland and Virginia Tech (a damning sentence in itself) as the surprising Hokies destroyed Iowa 95-79 and Maryland clobbered Northwestern 77-57. After Wake Forest's embarrassing 79-63 loss to theoretically-also-terrible Nebraska, I think we can already start labeling this year the Jeff Bzdelik farewell tour.

Indiana Rolls UNC 83-59

From the mothership:

The Indiana Hoosiers more than lived up to their lofty early season ranking on Tuesday night, blowing out the No. 14 North Carolina Tar Heels, 83-59, at Assembly Hall.

As the score would indicate, little to nothing went well for the Tar Heels, who fell to 5-2 on the season.

The Tar Heels shot just 38 percent from the field, 1-8 from three-point range and only 43 percent from the free-throw stripe. Indiana, meanwhile, had no such trouble -- shooting 40 percent from three and 44 percent from the field, with nearly all of their high-volume scorers finding an efficient balance.
