Shawn Draughn Becomes Latest UNC Player Cleared in NCAA Investigation

According to Inside Carolina, the newest player to be cleared in the ongoing NCAA investigations is Tar Heel RB Shaun Draughn, which is great news for a UNC team that managed just 23 net yards rushing against LSU. In fairness, that number is brought down by several TJ Yates sacks that account for -37 yards in that tiny total, but also in fairness even without that negative number Carolina’s tailbacks managed just 74 yards on 24 carries (which is just over 3 yards per carry, for those of you not awesome at math).

Draughn is currently listed as one of three potential starters with Johnny White and Anthony Elzy, but it’s hard not to see him getting the lion’s share of the carries given how relatively ineffective the other two were against the Tigers.

This is nice news for UNC, as they will probably need to control the clock or at the very least have some semblance of a threat to run the ball against Georgia Tech to beat the Ramblin’ Wreck, who will probably be coming in pretty aggravated after getting upset by Kansas in this weekend’s ACCpocalypse. Here’s hoping we hear a little something about other Carolina players this week, most notably some of those 7 defensive starters still missing, as the Heels’ main challenge will be finding a way to stop Tech’s triple option.
