- Unbelievably, UNC fullback Devon Ramsey actually won his appeal against the NCAA and will be reinstated to play football next fall. This pretty much never happens, but good to see that Ramsey was aquitted once emails were examined that showed there was no wrongdoing in his case.
- Tar Heel Fan notes the Heels are continually taking better care of the ball, with a particularly low TO% against Wake Forest.
- The Sporting News talks to Greg Little as he prepares for the draft and what they are calling “redemption” in the NFL. Aside: can we please get sports outlets to stop misusing the word “redemption”??? Ben Roethlisberger was NOT seeking redemption when he played in the Super Bowl, nor was Mike Vick finding it by becoming an MVP candidate. Greg Little will not find redemption by making an NFL team. These were off the field incidents and character issues - being good at a sport does not suddenly redeem poor behavior. The Onion Sportsdome already brilliantly parodied this, but the mainstream media has got to fix this.
- Finally, I know we have an intense rivalry and everything, but we would all do well to remember that it’s a rivalry over a game, and best played out between players on a field. Some fans seem to take this stuff a little too seriously, as evidenced by an Alabama fan actually poisoned the beloved oaks on Auburn’s campus. Bizarre.
